The WILD Program
WILD is an experiential learning program offering fun and challenging multi-day trips for urban youth to connect to the spectacular nature of southern Utah and develop leadership and life skills. Our participants are encouraged to take healthy risks and try new outdoor activities including hiking, camping, horseback riding, stargazing, and more in the surrounding Capitol Reef National Park area. They will learn about the conservation of these important outdoor spaces while being immersed in the physical and mental health benefits that come from spending time in nature.
Trip Overview
Departure day: Participants will fly from Baltimore to Salt Lake City and then be transported 3.5 hours to our comfortable accommodations in Torrey, Utah.
Over the next 6-9 days: Trips vary in length and activities suited to the different groups ability and experience levels. All trips will include educational programming, hiking in Capitol Reef National Park, a camping excursion to Fishlake National Forest, one night at the Capitol Reef Field Station to learn environmental ethics, conservation, and stargazing exploration with telescopes. Daily programming activities include leadership and life skills development, and hands on education about local geology, biology, archaeology, and other resources.
Final day: After cleaning up and saying goodbye, participants will be transported back to Salt Lake City for the flight home.
